AEROQUEST DRIVE INFORMATION

AeroQuest Machining is a growing, family-owned company specializing in custom drives, which means we can work with you for a design to suit any of your special needs. The enclosed photos are a sample of some of our work. We are global and pride ourselves in constantly testing and evaluating new technological advances in drive control and accuracy.

Our drive units are of the highest quality with a small periodic error (from 0 - 5 arc seconds with the 1 piece worm) easily guided out as there are no sudden jumps due to gross errors in the tooth configuration. All movements are smooth when components are properly aligned and mounted.

I personally build telescopes, optics and all, that have AeroQuest Drives mounted on them for use in astrophotography, and have gone as long as one minute without hitting the button on my drive corrector while guiding at 500X. Shots taken at f/12 show perfectly round images of stars without becoming strained at the guiding eyepiece.

The slip ring is very handy to use in locating faint objects as one only needs to set it once a night. The drive automatically keeps it indexed as long as it remains on. I have one on my 26" with a vernier scale that gives readings accurately to <1 minute of an arc right ascension.

If you have any special arrangements required for the worm mount, we can work with you to meet those needs. Please include any drawings you find helpful in explaining special arrangements. It takes about five days to complete one drive unit, and delivery time is dependent on the number of orders preceding yours.
